KHUJAND, December 12, 2008, Asia-Plus — Implementation of the project, School for young Human Rights Activists, has been completed in the Suhgd province.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Ms. Volida Ibrohimova of the Association f Young Lawyers, Amparo, said the project was initiated by the Association last May as part of activities focusing on human rights capacity building and promoting creation of the youth human rights group in the province and lasted through November.
Over the report period, a number of training seminars have been conducted for 20 students from local universities on human rights issues and monitoring conducting. The seminars have covered various topics such as human rights theory, international human rights mechanisms, national human rights mechanisms, civil society importance and activities, etc.
“The seminar participants then conducted monitoring on selective problem,” said Ibrohimova, “They, in particular, conducted monitoring on participation of youth in social and political life of the country, youth numbers in political parties, observance of students rights.”
A number of recommendations on observance of youth rights have been worked out during the monitoring.

Representatives of media and financial institutions discuss possible effects of financial crisis on Tajikistan
DUSHANBE, December 12, 2008, Asia-Plus /Mavjouda Hasanova/ — A roundtable meeting to discuss possible effects of the global financial crisis on Tajikistan economy is being held in Dushanbe today.
Representatives of the country’s financial institutions, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the Center for Strategic Studies, MPs and media have been invited to participate at the meeting that is initiated by Tajik Journalists’ Union and the News Agency Asia-Plus.
The main objective of the event is in raising the population awareness of the world financial crisis and its effects.
