DUSHANBE, March 14, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA) under the President of Tajikistan have reportedly seized a large consignment of hashish in Dushanbe.

According to the DCA press center, an operation carried out by the drug control officers on March 13 led to the arrest of resident of Khatlon province in Dushanbe on suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking.  A package of narcotics drug that tested positive to hashish weighing some six kilograms was confiscated from him.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug pusher under the provisions of Article 200 (4) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – large-scale drug trafficking; an investigation is under way, the source said.
