DUSHANBE, April 9, 2012, Asia-Plus — Over the first three months of this year, Tajikistan has produced a total of nearly 2 billion somoni (equivalent to more than 420 million U.S. dollars) worth of industrial goods, according to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI).
Compared to January-March of 2011 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods amounted to 114.6 percent.
Processing industry accounted for 65.7 percent of the overall volume of industrial goods produced over the report period, enterprises producing and distributing electric power, natural gas and water accounted for 24.9 percent and mining industry accounted for 9.4 percent.
Over the same three-month period, enterprises subject to the Ministry of Energy and Industries have increased production by 90 million, cotton-processing enterprises – by 173 million somoni, and enterprises that are not subject to a MoEI – by 31 million somoni.
The Tajik Aluminum Company (TALCO), which is Tajikistan’s largest industrial enterprise, has produced only 27.5 million somoni worth of output over the report period.
