KHUJAND, November 29, Asia-Plus  — Over the past two weeks, gasoline prices have dropped by some 21.5 percent in northern Tajikistan, according to Sughd economic development and antimonopoly directorate.

The price of one liter of 95-octane gasoline in Khujand has dropped from 3.40 somoni on November 17 to 2.80 somoni, with similar price reductions in other cities and districts of the province.

The source at the Sughd economic development and antimonopoly directorate added that Tojikstandart’s (Agency for Standardization, Metrology, Certification and Trade Inspection) branch for Sughd on November 17 issued an instruction on monitoring gasoline sales in the province in connection with slump in world’s oil product prices.

Three large gasoline suppliers currently operate in Sughd: limited liability company Gazpromneft (Khujand); NARU (Bobojonghafurov); and Muqumov (Konibodom).  Over the past ten months of this year, they have delivered 2,512 tons of gasoline to the province, primarily from Russia, the source said.
