DUSHANBE, November 22, 2008, Asia-Plus — The 48th session of the council of the CIS customs service chiefs that concluded in St. Petersburg on November 21 resulted in signing of the protocol on exchange of the of preliminary information about movement of commodities and transport means across the customs borders, according to press service of Russia’s Federal Customs Service.
Inventory of legal foundation of cooperation between the customs services of the CIS states was a major topic of a three-day session, which also considered issues related to creation of a common information system for the customs services of the CIS states.
The signed protocol provides for preliminary provision of electronic information about commodities and transport means necessary for customs clearing and control. Organization of exchange of the preliminary information aims to promote improvement and acceleration of customs procedures as well as prevention of violation of customs codes of the CIS member nations, the press service said.
The Customs Service chief Gurez Zaripov represented Tajikistan at the meeting.
