KHUJAND, November 21, 2008, Asia-Plus — The Sughd branch of Tajikistan’s Red Crescent Society (RCS) has completed distribution of humanitarian aid provided by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).
According to Ms. Maqsouda Azizova, executive secretary of RCS’s branch for Sughd, the assistance included food products and medicines.
Medicines have been distributed to central and rural hospitals in Panjakent, Ayni, Asht, Shahriston and Ghonchi districts. “The mentioned districts have received 48,000 somoni worth of medicines each,” said Azizova, “These medicines will be used for treatment of vulnerable people.”
Food products have been distributed among 800 disabled and elderly people who do not have relatives to support in Shahriston, Mastchoh and Jabborrasulov districts as well the city of Chkalovsk.
