DUSHANBE, November 17, 2008, Asia-Plus  — The Central Asian Forum of Visual Anthropology “KinoVizA,” organized in frames of the Regional Art and Culture Program funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), will take place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on November 18-23. 

According to Gulnoza Hasanova, Media and Communication Officer, Swiss Cooperation Office in Tajikistan, the KinoVizA Central Asian Visual Anthropology Forum is a part of the Uzbek National Film Festival, which is organized by the Swiss Cooperation Office in Uzbekistan, the “Uzbekistan Culture and Art Forum” Foundation with participation of the National Agency “Uzbekkino”.

During one week films of cinematographers from the Central Asian region shot in various studios during the last years will be presented.  The International Jury consisting of well-known and competent cinematography figures of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia and Uzbekistan will define the best in 7 nominations.

The cinema forum will present the most interesting and provocative works of cinematographers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Russia.  Apart from film demonstration it is expected that the authors will give master-classes, press-conferences and round tables.

But today cinema is more than just cinema, therefore “KinoVizA” will present a forum of contemporary art (video-art), a video-art marathon, a multimedia project “Waves”, an exhibition “Moon-faced” – a creative report of cinema- and video-artists.

The program of the Forum of Visual Anthropology “KinoVizA” and the Uzbek National Film Festival-2008 is as follows: demonstration of festival films (November 18-22); regional cinema forum (November 18-23); regional video forum (November 18-21); video-art marathon (November 18-21; opening night of the multimedia project “Waves” (November 18); exhibition “Moon-faced” (November 20 – December 10); workshops and master-classes (November 17-23); and informative demonstrations of Russian films (November 18-22).

In the meantime, speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Munavvar Mansourkhojayev, chairman of Tajik Cinematographers’ Union, said that “Ovora” (The Rover) by Gulandom Muhabbatova and Daler Rahmatov, “The Happiness” by Alisher Khushvaqtov and “The Statue of Love” by Umed Mirzoshirinov would represent Tajikistan at the forum.
