DUSHANBE, August 7, 2012, Asia-Plus — The Prosecutor-General’s Office has announced instituting criminal proceedings against Yodgor Mamadaslamov, former warlord from the civil war, and Tolib Ayombekov, former warlord from the civil war and ex-deputy commander of the border unit in GBAO’s Ishkashim district, and their immediate relatives.
Yodgor Mamadaslamov, Tolib Ayombekov and their relatives face charge of alleged nonpayment of bank loans.
A statement released by the Prosecutor-General’s Office says that by order of Yodgor Mamadaslamov his sister-in-law, Ms. Olambibi Guldarboghova, took a 350,000 somoni loan at 20 percent annual interest from one of offices of Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank) in Khorog on September 11, 2008. According to the Prosecutor-General’s Office, Mamadaslamov and Guldarboghova allegedly came into collusion with each other and have not repaid the loan so far. To-date, the amount of the principal and interest on it has reportedly reached 695,847 somoni.
The statement also noted that Tolib Ayombekov and his son Ghulomali Abdurahmonov received a 455,000 somoni loan from Amonatbonk’s office in Khorog on June 16, 2010 for two years but have not yet repaid it. To-date, the amount of the principal and interest on it has reportedly reached 587,195 somoni.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Yodgor Mamadaslamov, Olambibi Guldarboghova, Tolib Ayombekov and Ghulomali Abdurahmonov under the provisions of Article 246 (3) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – embezzlement of funds provided in the form of a loan, the statement stressed.
