KULOB, November 12, 2008, Asia-Plus — Over the first ten months of this year, the branch of Agroinvestbonk in Kulob has provided 40 million somoni (TJS) in loans, which is two times more than in the same period of last year, the head of Agroinvestbonk’s branch in Kulob Sayfiddin Qadamov told Asia-Plus on Wednesday.
“Of this amount, 23 million somoni have been provided to farmers, with 7 million somoni having gone to supporting enhancement of animal husbandry, bee keeping and gardening as well production of grains and vegetables,” Qadamov said.
In all, Agroinvestbonk’s branches in Khatlon’s Kulob region now have 7,798 customers. “5,595 of them have applied to the bank mainly for microloans,” the Kulob branch head said, noting that microloans have accounted for 61 percent of loans provided this year.
Founded in 1992, Agroinvestbonk, with headquarters in Dushanbe, has main branches in Khorog, Khujand, Kulob and Qurghon Teppa and 57 other branches across the republic.
