KHUJAND, November 12, 2008, Asia-Plus  — A job fair opened in Khujand, Sughd province on November 11.  

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Anvar Mahmoudov, the deputy head of the Khujand agency for employment and social protection of the population, said that 12 organizations participating at the fair have offered 130 job vacancies.   According to him, they promise to pay from 60 to 500 somoni per month. 

“Thus, the central city hospital has offered 60 nurse vacancies and the state unitary enterprise Sadaf offers six watchman vacancies with a monthly wage of 120 somoni,” said Mahmoudov, “Local enterprise Nourtex has offered a welder vacancy with a monthly wage of 500 somoni.” 

Since the beginning of this year, 1,800 jobless have been officially registered in Khujand, which is 1 percent fewer than in the same period of last year, Mahmoudov said.  “59 residents of Khujand now receive unemployment benefits.”   

The previous job fair was held in Khujand last August and 43 persons were placed in jobs at that fair.
