DUSHANBE, August 8, 2012, Asia-Plus — It turned out that head of the organization of the Islamic Revival Party (IRP) fort the city of Khorog, Sherik Karamkhudoyev, is being held in the pretrial detention facility of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) in Dushanbe.
“In an official response to our inquiry, the State Committee for National Security noted on August 7 that Sherik Karamkhudoyev is currently being held in its detention facility in Dushanbe,” IRP deputy leader, Mahmadali Hoit, told Asia-Plus in an interview Wednesday afternoon.
According to him, they do not yet know what for Karamkhudoyev was detained and transported to Dushanbe.
We will recall that head of IRP’s organization for Khorog Sherik Karamkhudoyev has been reported missing since July 24, when the government forces launched the military operation in the city.
As it had been reported earlier, the Islamic Revival Party on August 2 applied to the Prosecutor-General Sherkhon Salimzoda, requesting to launch investigation into the murder of Sabzali Mamadrizoyev, the head of IRP’s organization for Gorno Badakhshan. In an official letter sent to Tajik chief prosecutor, IRP leader Muhiddin Kabiri noted that the monstrous murder of IRP regional head took place in the territory of the Khorog border unit on July 24.
In a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, IRP leader Muhiddin Kabiri noted on July 30 that Mamadrizoyev participated in the demonstration in Khorog on July 23. According to IRP, after the July 23 meeting, Sabzali Mamadrizoyev was detained by the law enforcement authorities and taken to the Khorog border unit, where he was severely beaten and then shot from the assault rifle Kalashnikov. Mamadrizoyev’s body was found three days later and he was buried on July 26.
Sabzali Mamadrizoyev, 32, was elected to head IRP’s organization in Gorno Badakhshan on July 17, 2011. As of January 1, 2012, IRP’s organization in Gorno Badakhshan reportedly had 3,000 members.
