Krol, remarked at a press conference in Dushanbe on November 11.

According to him, there are some disagreements  between the United States and Tajikistan in the issues related to democratization of society, provision of transparency of government activities and freedom of speech.

“However, I would like to stress that there are more understanding than disagreements between us,” Ambassador Krol said, noting that the United States and Tajikistan share similar stance on issues related to stabilization of situation in Afghanistan and the fight against terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking.

He noted that the United States did not intend to dictate to Tajikistan how it should live or build its society.  “But we want to help you,” the Deputy Assistant Secretary said.
