DUSHANBE, August 17, 2012, Asia-Plus — President Emomali Rahmon has congratulated Tajik Muslims on the occasion of the Eid ul-Fitr that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.
In his message that was posted on the presidential official website, Emomali Rahmon, in particular, noted that only under the conditions of independence the people of Tajikistan has gained the right to observe its religious and historical holidays.
The message also notes that a number of measures have been taken in the country in recent years to regulate social, cultural and ethical issues.
The president called on the people of the country to remember effects of the civil conflict in the country and not to forget that peace and accord that reign today in Tajikistan were reached at the cost of vast human and material losses.
He also called on well-to-do people to provide assistance to the vulnerable sections of the population during the Eid ul-Fitr holiday.
