Average monthly wage in Tajikistan estimated at 525 somoni in H1 2012

DUSHANBE, August 17, 2012, Asia-Plus  — In June, the lowest average wage was reported in agriculture, hunting and forestry – 130.76 somoni (equivalent to some US$27.40), according to figures submitted by the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

In the real sector, the highest average wage in June was reported in the construction sector – 1,300.00 somoni, which was followed by mining (1,283.00 somoni) and the energy sector (894.00 somoni).

In whole, the average monthly wage in the real sector was estimated at 390.00 somoni in June.

In the service sector, the highest average wage was reported in the banking system – 1,835.00 somoni.

In whole, the average monthly wage in the service sector was estimated at 670.00 somoni in June.

Over the first six months of this year, the average monthly wage in Tajikistan has been estimated at 525.00 somoni (equivalent to some US$110.00).

Meanwhile, beginning on January 1, 2013, the minimum wage in Tajikistan will be raised from 80.00 to 200.00 somoni – 2.5 times rise.

On Monday August 13, President Emomali Rahmon signed a decree on measures aimed at strengthening the level of population”s social security and increasing the minimum wage, public sector wage, pensions and allowances [scholarships].

The minimum monthly wage in all sectors of the country”s economy is to be set at 200.00 somoni from January 1, 2013.
