DUSHANBE, August 18, 2012, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan’s Ambassador to the United States Nouriddin Shamsov conducted consultations with Ms. Kathleen McDonald, USAID/Washington Office Director, South and Central Asia, in Washington on August 15, the MFA information department reported on August 18.
In the course of the talks, the two reportedly discussed a broad range of issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the United States.
Tajik diplomat supported USAID’s intention to participate in implementation of energy programs and projects in the region and expressed confidence that they would promote development of the economies of the countries of the region, the source said.
During the consultations, Ms. McDonald reportedly noted that as the future USAID Tajikistan Country Office Director she would take efforts to promote further expansion of cooperation between the sides in developing the cross-border trade with Afghanistan and implementing social development projects in Tajikistan.
