DUSHANBE, August 27, 2012, Asia-Plus — The possibility of participation of German investments in Tajikistan’s fundamental projects was the focus of a meeting of Mr. Sharif Rahimzoda, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, with Mr. Dirk Niebel, German Federal Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development that took place here at the end of last week.
The press center of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoETD) reports the sides discussed issues related to investment in the projects aimed at enhancing Tajikistan’s sectors of energy and industry and launching joint ventures for processing farm produce.
We will recall that German minister held talks with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe on August 25. State and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Germany were a major topic of the meeting. A special attention was reportedly paid to trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and transit transport issues with regard to wide opportunities of markets of Afghanistan and Pakistan and other countries of Central and South Asia.
German minister reportedly noted that his country was interested in Tajikistan’s fundamental projects in the fields of energy, transportation and communications that were aimed at promoting development of the whole region.
Meanwhile, Ms. Larisa Kislaykova, the deputy chairperson of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, met last Saturday here with representatives of Germany’s companies WILLING (sale of construction and agricultural machines) and ANDRITZ HYDRO (a global supplier of electro-mechanical systems and services for hydropower plants and one of the leaders in the world market for hydraulic power generation).
