DUSHANBE, August 29, 2012, Asia-Plus — Tajik delegation, led by Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov, will attend the 2nd China-Eurasia Expo that will take place in Urumqi, the capital of China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) from September 1-5 this year.
According to Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Tajikistan will be represented at the Urumqi fair by Tajik Aluminum Company (TALCO), Barqi Tojik power holding, the State Unitary Enterprise (SUE) Vostokredmet, SUE Khurokvori (food industry), OJSC Tojkabel (cable production), CJSC Regarlkabel (Tursunzoda-based cable production plant), OJSC Suman, JSC Parastor, NGO Umed, limited liability companies Toinial, Somon, Fortuna, Rukhom, Eurasia and Chakan, private company Sobir, etc.
To-date, 55 countries and five international organizations have reportedly confirmed their participation at the fair, the source noted.
China’s news agency Xinhua reports the second China-Eurasia Expo is expected to attract more than 5,000 international purchasers.
Nearly 21,000 domestic companies will also participate in the event, which will promote economic and reportedly noted at a news conference in Beijing last Friday.
According to Xinhua, the vice minister described the upcoming event as an important platform to push forward cooperation in trade, science and technology, transportation, culture, as well as tourism between Asia and Europe.
Ministerial-level forums, culture-promoting activities and trade promotions will take place on the sidelines of the expo.
The China-Eurasia Expo is an exposition for commercial, cultural and ministerial activities among Asian and European countries. Prior to the expo, a lower profile annual trade fair was held in Urumqi, the capital of China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) every year since 1992 called the Urumqi Foreign Economic Relations and Trade Fair. In 2010 this fair was decided to be upgraded to be the leading trade platform in the region. This extends trading not just for Central and South Asia but to the entire Asia and Europe. The 1st China-Eurasia Expo was held in Urumqi on September 1, 2011.
China-Eurasia Expo is now an important platform established to further expand all-around, high-level and multi-field exchanges and cooperation between China, Asian and European countries on the basis of successfully-held China Urumqi Foreign Economic Relations and Trade Fair.
