, February 7, Asia-Plus — Residents of the Uzbekjar village in Asht district of Sughd will not experience problems with electric power any more as a new transformer has been established in the village.
According to information from the Mercy Corps field office in Khujand, it has been installed within the framework of implementation of the infrastructure project “Uzbekjar Village Electricity Supply Rehabilitation”, which has become possible due to the “Peaceful Community Initiatives” program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
According to Sodirkhon Rahimov, member of the local initiative group, shortage of electricity was the main problem facing this village. “The transformer was installed 40 years ago and lately, its capacity has not been enough to meet the village’s growing electric power, especially in the winter period.
