DUSHANBE, February 16, Asia-Plus – On Thursday February 16, Tajik President Emomali Rahmonov met in Dushanbe with Mr. Shafiq Sajeedina, Director of Department for Diplomatic Affairs, Secretariat of His Highness the Aga Khan, and Mr. Mounir Mir Ali, new Resident Representative of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) in Tajikistan.

Mr. Sajeedina told journalists following the meeting with President Rahmonov that in the course of the talks they also discussed the possibility of the AKDN participation in the construction of a new Pamir-2 hydropower plant and a series of Tajik-Afghan bridges across the

,” said Mr. Sajeedina, “The groundbreaking ceremony for the hotel is set for February 23.”  He added that the final budget for the construction of the hotel has not yet been determined but it would be known within next few week.

, Shafiq Sajeedina noted that the AKDN’s agencies are primarily working in health, education, culture and rural and economic development.
