DUSHANBE, March 31, Asia-Plus — Employees of the “Asia-Plus” news agency today morning found several dozens of dead birds on the roof of Transport Institute alone.  This institute is located in the center of Dushanbe (35/1 Bokhtar Street) and the “Asia-Plus” news agency is housed on the eighth floor of the institute’s building.

The news agency correspondents telephoned the Dushanbe veterinary service to inform of the fact.  A team of the city veterinary service came and took several birds with them.  They said they would test them to define the cause of the death.  According to them, the test results will be known on the following Monday.

Asia-Plus got in touch with Mullojon Amirbekov, Tajikistan’s chief veterinarian, again and he said that they had received several reports from the city residents about the found dead birds over the past two weeks and the service’s teams had visited the places where the dead birds had been found.

Tajik chief veterinarian stated once again that the tests that had been made previously showed that the birds had died of not bird flu but of seasonal bird plague.
