DUSHANBE, April 21, Asia-Plus — A two-day session of the council of the CIS interior ministers is opening at the “Kokhi Vahdat” State Complex in Dushanbe today.
Heads and senior representatives of interior ministries from Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Belarus are taking part in the session’s work. Besides, representative from the Interpol Office for Russia, Aleksandr Gridchin, is also attending the CIS interior ministers’ meeting in Dushanbe.
Participants at the meeting are supposed to consider a broad range of issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of cooperation between the CIS law enforcement agencies in fighting terrorism, extremism, trafficking in drugs and weapons.
They are also expected to discuss and endorse a new instruction on searching criminals.
On Saturday April 22, antiterrorist exercise involving special sub-units of Russian, Belarus, Armenian and Tajik police are planned to be held in the Romit Gorge in the Vahdat district on sidelines of the CIS interior ministers’ session. Tajik Minister of Interiors Khumdin Sharipov, who is currently is Chairman-in-Office of the Council of the CIS Interior Ministers, will be in overall command of this exercise.
