DUSHANBE, April 24, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan is threatened with possible default, Georgy Koshlakov, a lecturer at Russian-Tajik Slavic University (RTSU) in Dushanbe, remarked at the roundtable meeting entitled “Economic Growth: Problems, Factors and Effects” in Dushanbe on April 22.   

He noted that

was currently in a pre-crisis financial situation.  “At present amount of U.S. dollars exceeds amount of local currency of Somoni,” Koshlakov said, pointing the necessity of taking measures to prevent the possible default.  According to him,

does not have strategic marketing at all.  

“Launching one or other production project nobody thinks what will be in three or five years,” Koshlakov noted.   

He also added that it was necessary to create enterprises in the country on a full cycle of processing of raw materials.
