DUSHANBE, May 2, Asia-Plus — Russian aluminum giant “Russian Aluminum” (RusAl) and Tajikistan’s government have not yet reached compromise on a type and height of the Roghun dam, the Barqi Tojik holding company head Sharifkhon Samiyev told journalists on April 28.

According to him, the project is currently under consideration of independent experts, who are supposed to prepare their resolution by late June this year.

We will recall that the Tajik side has designed a 335-meter high fill dam, while specialists from RusAl insist on the construction of a concrete dam.

Speaking on this issue, Mr. Samiyev termed the 300-meter high fill dam of the Norak power station as an example.  He noted that the Norak dam had successfully passed all kinds of tests and sustained 9,000 tremors of different magnitude since the time when it was put into operation.
