DUSAHNBE, May 12, Asia-Plus — An exhibition of young Tajik painters entitled “Parallel” opened at College of Art in Dushanbe on Friday, May 12. 

According to information from the Dushanbe Office of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the exhibition is a result of the “Starter” project that included holding of a series of interactive lectures, master-classes and travels for the purpose of studying modern trends of visual arts.  

Works of young Tajik painters as well as students at the Dushanbe College of Art, including painting, installations, performances (pictures created from improvised means), happening, photo-art and video-at, have been put on display in the exhibition.  

According to information from the Dushanbe College of Art, the master-classed were conducted by known painters and artistes from Tajikistan, as well as from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.  

Such a project has been implemented in Tajikistan for the first time.  The main objective of the project is in promoting development of unordinary visual arts as well as holding of exposition of works by young painters.   The exhibition runs through May 22. 

The project has been supported by Tajikistan’s Ministry of Culture, Dushanbe Mayor’s Office, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, and the Dushanbe College of Art.
