, May 22, Asia-Plus — A working group of the State Duma (
Russia
’s lower chamber of parliament) for studying state of overseas Russian military base arrived in
Dushanbe
on May 22.
According to information from the headquarters of Russian military base 201 in
Dushanbe
, the working group consists of members from the State Duma’s committees for defense, security, international matters, CIS affairs, and ties with fellow-countrymen.
The main purpose of the visit is for the delegation to study the provision of the base with armament and materiel, as well as social security of the military personnel and members of their families.
Earlier, the working group visited Russian military bases deployed in
Armenia
,
Azerbaijan
,
Georgia
,
Kyrgyzstan
and
Ukraine
. At present military bases of the
Russian Federation
are deployed in 16 foreign countries, according to the source.
