conference in Qurghon Teppa to hear reports and elect new officials. 

The conference elected Sohibnazar Imomnazarov new head of the DPT organization for the Khatlon province.  He replaced Begijon Kululayev in this post.  Ms. Gulnora Ghoziyev and Mr. Ashurali Ergashev were elected deputy chairmen of the DPT organization for Khatlon.

Speaking to journalists after the conference, Rahmatullo Valiyev noted that creation of a “Vatan” group did not mean a split within the party.  He also noted that the party’s administration has not yet received any documents about creation of faction.   He added that some members of the “Vatan” group have never been members of the Democratic Party.  Valiyev also told journalists that a regional conference of DPT would be held in Kulob by the end of this month.
