DUSHANBE, June 16, – A roundtable meeting formally titled “Role of Parliament in Strengthening of Rule of Law in Tajikistan” is being held in Dushanbe today.  

Ms. Eugenia Benigni, Media Officer of the OSCE Center in Dushanbe, has told Asia-Plus that this roundtable meeting is a part of the “Social Partnership Club” project being implemented in the country under the support of the OSCE.  This project is aimed at organization of dialogue between authorities and civil society in Tajikistan.    

Andrey Shugurov, Deputy Head of the OSCE Centre in Dushanbe, and Karomatullo Olimov, State Adviser to the Tajik President for Social Development Matters and Public Relations, are expected to address the meeting.    

Accordig to Ms. Benigni, the meeting has brought together 70 members of the Tajik Public Council, including senior representatives of political parties, ethnic communities, and NGOs as well as representatives from media, international organizations and the government.   

The meeting is staged by the OSCE Center in Dushanbe in cooperation with Tajikistan’s Public Council.
