President Rahmonov remarked this telling a ceremony of official opening of the new building of the U.S. Embassy that was held in


Dushanbe


on June 28.  “This event confirms a long-term perspective of bilateral cooperation between our countries,” President Rahmonov said.  

According to him,


Tajikistan


is ready to cooperate with all countries of the world.  “Our general goal is to promote stability and peace as well as development of democracy in the region,” said Emomali Rahmonov, “Leaderships of the two countries intend to continue and expand bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation.”  

He noted that

was interested in extending spheres of cooperation with the


United States


, especially in the field of economy and trade.  “We will become witnesses of many implemented joint projects soon,” said the Tajik president, “

For his part, U.S. Charge d’Affaires Thomas Armbruster telling the inaugurating ceremony noted that the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe aimed at promoting development of regional cooperation, enhancement of Tajikistan’s economy, development of democracy in the republic, as well as cooperating with Tajikistan in countering drug trafficking.  “In the new building of the Embassy, we will be able to do this better,” Mr. Armbruster said, noting that the Tajik-Afghan border across the

in Panji Poyon, in Khatlon, will be put into operation next year.

The total cost of the project for the construction of the new building of the U.S. Embassy in

amounted to US$90 million.
