DUSHANBE, July 17, Asia-Plus — A rate of crime detection in Dushanbe has increased by 1.2 percent over the first six months of this year, according to information from the Dushanbe police department.  

The source says that in January-June 2006, 1,746 crimes have been registered in Dushanbe, which is 51 crimes fewer compared to same period of the last year.  Of those 1,746 crimes, Dushanbe police have solved 1,587 (88.5 percent).  

402 grave crimes have been registered in the Tajik capital in the first half-year of 2006; of them, 314 have been solved.  “All 24 killings registered in Dushanbe so far this year have been solved,” the source said.  

Besides, Dushanbe police have intercepted more than 160 kilograms of drugs and seized some 60 firearms over the mentioned period, according to the source.
