DUSHANBE, July 28, Asia-Plus — Some 100,000 entrepreneurs have been registered in Tajikistan as of July 1, Rahmonali Amirov, Chairman of the Antimonopoly Committee, told journalists on July 26.

“According to official data, over the past six months, a number of entrepreneurs in

Tajikistan

has increased by 16.2 percent compared to the first half-year of 2005,” Mr. Amirov said.

According to him, of a total number of registered entrepreneurs only 62.2 percent are considered working.  “They are mainly working in the filed of commerce, public catering, construction and industry,” the antimonopoly agency head noted.

On the illegal inspections, Rahmonali Amirov noted that the antimonopoly commission was making every effort to make entrepreneurs free from such inspections.  “We are taking measures to prevent illegal inspections that are impeding development of entrepreneurship in our country,” Mr. Amirov noted.

In February this year, with aid of International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the World Bank and under financial support of

Switzerland

’s State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), the government of

Tajikistan

published and introduced 125,000 copies of an Inspections Registration Book (IRB), according to him.  The IRBs have been distributed to all entrepreneurs throughout the country free of charge.

The IRB is an official document, which must be filled in both by the enterprise where the inspection is conducted (in particular, it should reflect a firm’s consent or disagreement with inspection results), and by the inspecting authority (stating purpose and result of inspection, position and full names of inspectors, permission from the proper authority to conduct the inspection). In case of an inspector’s refusal to complete the IRB entry, an entrepreneur has the right to refuse access to facilities.
