, July 31, Asia-Plus – On Thursday August 3, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Vice-President Liqun Jin will arrive in
Tajikistan
for his first two-day visit.
According to Ms. Tatiana Yevstifeyeva, an employees of the ADB Dushanbe Office, during his stay in
Tajikistan
Mr. Liqun Jin will hold talks with
Tajikistan
President Emomali Rahmonov and senior government officials to discuss ADB’s assistance program in the country, which focuses on strengthening rural development, social sectors, and regional cooperation, and rehabilitating basic infrastructure.
The ADB vice-president also will visit two ADB projects in Khatlon Region – a Road Rehabilitation Project, and Power Rehabilitation Phase I – as well as the Afghan border, where he will view ongoing agriculture rehabilitation and planned flood control projects on the
Panj
River
.
On August 5, Mr. Jin will depart for
Bishkek
,
Kyrgyzstan
.
Mr. Jin, who joined ADB in August 2003, is responsible for operations of its Central and West Asia Department (including
Tajikistan
), South Asia Department, and the Private Sector Operations Department. Prior to joining ADB, Mr. Jin was the Vice Minister of Finance of the People”s Republic of
China
(PRC).
