DUSHANBE, August 10, Asia-Plus — Problems and perspectives of judicial reform in Tajikistan will be discussed on Friday, August 11, at a roundtable meeting organized by the OSCE Center in Dushanbe in cooperation with the National Association of Political Scientists of Tajikistan and the American Bar Association with the support of the President’s Executive Office.

According to information from the OCE Center in Dushanbe, participants at the event are focusing on different aspects of the judicial reform in Tajikistan, as well as on enhancing the democratic substance and transparency of the judiciary.

Key speakers at the event include Andrey Shugurov, Deputy Head of the OSCE Center in Dushanbe, Matlyuba Habibulloyeva, Deputy Head of the Council of Justice of Tajikistan, and Bakhtiyor Khudoyorov, Head of the Department of Constitutional Guarantees of Citizens’ Rights of the President’s Executive Office.

The round table is part of the project “Sensitization campaign on the compliance of the Tajik justice system with international human rights standards”, being implemented by the OSCE Center in Dushanbe throughout 2006.
