DUSAHNBE, August 14, Asia-Plus — The sixth session of the Tajik-Kyrgyz commission for complex consideration of bilateral cooperation held in Dushanbe on August 11 ended with signing of a protocol of cooperation.  

The protocol signed on the results of the session’s work will promote further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, Tajik Minister of Agriculture also co-chairman of the Tajik-Kyrgyz Cooperation Commission, Voris Madaminov, remarked at a briefing following the session. 

“Tajikistan will take all adequate measures to implement all provisions of the protocol signed in Dushanbe,” the Tajik minister said.   

For his part, Nurlan Suleymanov, Kyrgyz Transport Minister also co-chairman of the Tajik-Kyrgyz Cooperation Commission, speaking to journalists noted that the session considered a broad range of issues related to cooperation between the two countries in the different areas such as border and cross-border trade, migration, agrarian sector, culture, energy and water resources, Tajikistan’s admission to the World Trade Organization (WTO), etc.  According to Mr. Suleymanov, the next session of the Tajik-Kyrgyz commission for complex consideration of bilateral cooperation will be held in the Kyrgyz capital city of Bishkek in the first half-year of 2007.      

In the signed document, Kyrgyzstan asks Tajikistan to speed up a process of procedures of an agreement on mutual allotment of parcels of lands signed in May last year.  Under this document the working group is to work out a draft agreement on cooperation in the filed of a joint use of water and energy resources and submit for consideration of the governments of the two countries mutual by September 1.   Besides, the working is also tasked to work out an agreement on cooperation between education ministries Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
