DUSHANBE, August 16, Asia-Plus – Based on current data, the gross domestic product (GDP) for January-July 2006 has been 4,392,932,900 Somonis (equivalent to more than US$1.33 billion), an increase of 107.2 percent over the same period of the last year in comparable prices, according to information from the State Committee for Statistics.   

The share of production of goods in GDP has amounted to 40.8 percent over the same seven-month period, share of the paid services – 47.7 percent, and share of taxes – 11.5 percent.   

Over the first seven months of this year, Tajikistan has produced a total of 2.4884 billion Somonis’ worth of industrial goods. 

In January-July 2006, 414 of 691 enterprises have exceeded the January-July 2005 production level.  In July, there were 238 enterprises, or 34.4 percent of the overall number of industrial enterprises in Tajikistan, that were not in operation.   

In January-July 2006, enterprises of the Ministry of Industry have produced 220.7 million Somonis’ worth of output.  Compared to January-July 2005 the index of the volume of production of goods by these enterprises has amounted to 105.3 percent.  

Enterprises of the Ministry of Agriculture have produced 239.1 million Somonis’ of agricultural output, which is 2.8 percent fewer compared to the same period of the last year.
