DUSHANBE, August 17, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan comes out for necessity of the Eurasian Economic Community’s (EAEC) entering qualitatively new level of interaction in resolving integration issues, Tajik President Emomali Rahmonov remarked at a news conference in Sochi yesterday after talks.  

“The sides pointed out the necessity of improvement of mechanisms of integration within the Community,” Rahmonov said.  

According to him, EAEC is dedicated to become maturity integration structure.

President Rahmonov also expressed hope that Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan would speed up “a process of unification of legislative documents and integration processes before the next year.”   

Belarus President Aleksnadr Lukashenko noted that the tree states have to date proved to be advanced in terms of unification of their laws for the creation of the Customs Union.  He also stressed that Tajikistan was not behind Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia in this issue, and it [Tajikistan] could be introduced into the Customs Union.

On Wednesday, the EAEC informal summit focused on a common energy market and customs union as part of the Community.  Leaders of the EAEC member countries have signed a document obligating the Community’s Secretariat as well as Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan to take necessary measures to form a legal foundation for formation of the customs union. 

They also discussed integration processes, including those related to the Common Economic Space /CES/, and the plans to join the World Trade Organization. 

Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed to the importance of exchange of information about the plans of the country’s joining the World Trade Organization (WTO).  He also called for paying attention to intensifying EAEC”s cooperation with the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
