KONIBODOM, August 26, Asia-Plus — A traditional August conference was held in Konibodom on August 25 to sum up the results of the school year 2005-2006.

Mr. Nazir Bobojonov, the head of the Konibodom education department, has told Asia-Plus that 52 schools with totaling 39,111 pupils, central for vocational training (372 students), center for out-school works (652 students) and seven preschool institutions (727) have to date operated in the Konibodom district.

“A total number of teachers working with schools in Konibodom is 2,902 people; of them. 1,509 have higher education of them, 95 have incomplete higher education and 1,298 have secondary pedagogical education,” said Mr. Bobojonov, “This year, we will accept 3,600 first-formers, and 2,500 pupils will move up into 10

th

form.”

According to him, 510 leavers from Konibodom have entered higher educational institutions and 730 others have entered training colleges this year.

“To date, we need 46 teachers with higher education,” noted Nazir Bobojonov, This year, only 12 of 36 graduate from higher teachers’ training institutes sent for working to Konibodom have come schools in the district.“

“On the other hand, 109 students have graduated from local Teachers’ Training College this year but we are not able to place all of them in jobs because they have just a secondary pedagogical education,” Bobojonov said, noting that for tackling this problem it is necessary to solve the issue of reorganizing the local teachers’ training college into a branch of Tajik teachers’ training institute.
