DUSHANBE, August 28, Asia-Plus — The International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission to Tajikistan led by Carlos Pinerua will assist Tajikistan’s Ministry of Finance in preparing the country’s national budget for 2007 with regard to including foreign loans in a middle-term budgetary foundation, according to information from the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT).  

The source in Tajik central bank says the IMF mission that arrived in Tajikistan at the end of the last week would consider issues related to plans of use of funds disengaged after write-off of Tajikistan’s debt to the IMF.  

Tajikistan’s economic team briefed the IMF mission on economic indices of the country.  During a meeting it was noted that Tajikistan posted 7.2 percent GDP growth for the first seven months of 2006, according to the source.  

The IMF mission’s visit to Tajikistan will last till September 1.  During its stay in Tajikistan the IMF mission is scheduled to hold a number of talks with senior representatives and experts from key ministries and organizations of economic sector and commercial banks of Tajikistan.  

President Emomali Rahmonov is expected to receive the IMF mission on the results of its work.
