DUSAHNBE, September 1, Asia-Plus — Tajik and Uzbek customs officers will work out a single method of drawing up transit of natural gas and electric power via the border of the two countries.  

An agreement on this subject was reached at a meeting of delegations of Tajik and Uzbek customs services in the Tajik northern city of Khujand on August 21-25.  

Mr. Hamdullo Mukhtozhov, the head of the special customs unit within the department for organization of customs control of the Ministry of State Revenues and Tax Collections (MSRTC), has told Asia-Plus that in the course of the talks the sides agreed to work out a single unified legal-technical foundation of organization of customs control and customs clearing of natural gas and electricity supplies.   

“Customs officers of the two countries pointed to the necessity of preventing illegal supply of natural gas and electricity via the Tajik-Uzbek border and the Uzbek-Tajik border,” said the Asia-Plus interlocutor, “During a month, each of the sides will consider submitted list of legal-technical documentations, and after that we will set to working out the single unified list.”

The sides also agreed to organize exchange of information on the results of analysis of technological losses. 

Mr. Mukhtozhov says the sides will monthly exchange information on the customs control and customs clearing of the mentioned goods in the customs regimes of “import”, “export” and “transit”.   

During the meeting in Khujand it was pointed to the necessity of equipping the energy services of the two countries with state-of-the-art technical means.
