DUSHANBE, September 20, Asia-Plus /Muhayo Oripova/ — The Second Tajikistan International Film Festival, Didori Dushanbe, will be held in Dushanbe in October. The festival, organized by the Government of Tajikistan and the Tajik Branch of Open Society Institute/Assistance Foundation (OSI/AF) will kick off on October 26 and last until October 30.

Denis Beketov, the festival press secretary, said the second Didori Dushanbe film festival will bring together cinematographers from the Persian-speaking states, Afghanistan, Iran and Tajikistan.

The head of Russia’s Movie Museum, Naum Kleyman, will preside over an international jury, which will include well-known filmmakers, actors and critics.

”The main objective of the festival is to remove any critical attitudes of the West towards the East and vice versa,” said Beketov, “We hope to restore the confidence lost between these two unique civilizations through film.”

Movies from the Central Asian states, Afghanistan, Armenia, Georgia, Iran, Russia and other countries will be shown during the festival.

The parallel program of the festival will include roundtable meetings, master-classes for young Tajik cinematographers and TV journalists.
