DUSHANBE, October 2, Asia-Plus – On Sunday October 1, President Emomali Rahmonov visited a pomegranate orchard in Norak, presidential press service reported.

A meeting with local population that was held in the compound of the local limited liability company Anorbogh (Pomegranate Orchard) focused on problems facing education and social security fields.  During the meeting Rahmonov noted a new secondary school will be built in the village of Puli Sangin in the near future.   

The pomegranate orchard was laid out in the area of 45 hectares in Norak in 1975.  Over the past decade, the orchard has been in a very poor state.  Rehabilitation of the orchard started in 2003 and since that time, 7,000 pomegranate seedlings have been planted in the area of 21 hectares that allows having a harvest of 50 tons of pomegranates a year. 

Mainly, local residents are working with the Anorbogh limited liability company and an average wage in the company is 150 somonis (more than US$40.00).
