DUSAHNBE, October 11, Asia-Plus — The main part of labor migrants, some 46 percent, leaving the country in search of seasonal work, are working in the construction sector, 3%-4% are engaged in science, and the remaining are occupied with trading, Anvar Boboyev, the head of the State Migration Service within the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, aid in an interview with Asia-Plus.

On the problems facing our migrants outside the republic, he noted that it is, first of all, poor knowledge of language of the country of destination.  “The other problem is that people do not have any concrete specialties,” Boboyev stressed.  Dwelling on this problem, he noted that 70 vocational-technical schools in Tajikistan turn out specialists in various specialties such electricians, builders, welders, carpenters, decorators, etc.

“At present we are considering the issue related to organization of short-term training courses for persons having basic skills in one or other specialty,” said the Tajik labor official, “Taking such training courses, the will be given certificate and an appropriate grade, that will allow them finding suitable job both in Tajikistan and outside it.”

At the same time, Boboyev noted that material-technical basis of the vocational-technical schools in the country leaves much to be desired.  “Material-technical basis of many of the vocational-technical schools has become obsolete and requires urgent replacement.”   To resolve this problem it is necessary to find donors that would invest in modernization of the material-technical basis, according to him.
