DUSHANBE, October 26, Asia-Plus — Compared to the January-September 2005 period, AmonatBonk (Tajik savings bank) has increased its capital by 72 percent over the first three quarters of this year, bank head Mahmadamin Mahmadaminov announced at a news conference in Dushanbe on October 25. 

According to him, the total capital of the bank is 22.525 million somonis (equivalent to some US $6.5 million) as of October 1, which is 5.36 million somonis more than last year. 

He noted that in order to attract more clients, AmonatBonk is working to improve present services and introducing new ones.

”Over the report period US $52.9 million, 218 million Russian rubles and 46,000 euros were remitted to the bank’s branches across the country, which is 108.7 percent more than in January-September 2005,” Mahmadaminov said. 

The bank has made loans equivalent to US $65.7 million to more than 7,000 people since the beginning of the year, which is twice as much as last year. 

Established in 1998, AmonatBonk has five regional and 69 district and city branches.  This year alone, 230 money-transfer centers of AmonatBonk have been set up in the country, bringing the total to 313.
