DUSHANBE, October 27, Asia-Plus – AgroInvestBonk intends to offer its clients two new services – car credit and pawn credit.

Jalil Tavakkalov, the head of the AgroInvestBonk department for crediting and active operations, said that the work on planning these kinds of services is under way.   According to him, demand for these services increased lately.

“At present more and more people in Tajikistan want to purchase car on credit,” said Tavakkalov, “Before introducing the car credit service we have to define to what extent incomes of the population stable; it will take quite a lot of time.”  To introduce this kind of crediting the bank intends to conclude an agreement with one of local companies supplying cars to the country, Tavakkalov noted.

The AgroInvestBonk official noted that over the first nine months of this year, their bank has provided 248.8 million somonis in loans to 9,170 people.  Small loans remain the most demanded type of crediting, according to him.  Of those applied to the bank for loans, 95 percent or 8,717 people have applied for loans of up to 20,000 somonis.  A total amount of such loans provided in January-September 2006 was not so large – 69.3 million somonis.

Since April, the bank has also provided loans to labor migrants.  AgroInvestBonk has provided 2.3 million somonis in loans to 1,700 migrants so far.  An amount of the loan provided is not more than US$600 and it is repayable over the period from six months to one year.
