DUSHANBE, October 27, Asia-Plus — According to a follow-up report by international observers, election campaign activities in Tajikistan continue without serious violations, Muhibullo Dodojonov, a spokesman for Tajikistan’s Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER), said in an interview with Asia-Plus. 

According to him, the central electoral commission has to date granted accreditation to some 400 international observers. In all, more than 700 international and 18,000 local observers will monitor the presidential election in Tajikistan, according to the latest data of the CCER. 

”At present, there are 240 observers from the CIS, 137 from the OSCE Office for Democratic

Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), and four from the Ukraine-based pubic organization “For Fair

Elections” in Tajikistan,” said Dodojonov. “The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is expected to send its observers to Tajikistan In the coming weeks.”

According to him, preparations for the November 6 presidential election are in full swing. ”We have printed 3,200,000 ballots and all polling stations have been provided with transparent standards and portable ballot-boxes,” Dodojonov said.
