DUSHANBE, November 2, Asia-Plus – A forum of Central Asia’s states on mother and child health opened in the Uzbek capital city of Tashkent today.  

According to the Ministry of Health (MoH), a delegation headed by the Deputy Health Minister, Nigina Sharopova, is representing Tajikistan at the forum in Tashkent.   

The MoH source said that the main objective of the forum is to facilitate the exchange of experiences between experts and researchers from Central Asian states about priorities of healthcare connected with survival, development and protection of well-being of children and mothers.   “The Central Asian forum on mother and child health protects rights of mother and child to get health services and is aimed at a full implementation of provisions of the Convention on the Rights of the Child signed heads of all Central Asian states,” the source said.  

This event is being held under support of the UNICEF and the Government of Uzbekistan.  Representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are attending the Tashkent forum.
