DUSHANBE, November 3, Asia-Plus — More than 1,886 kilograms of drugs, including 845 kilograms of heroin, has been intercepted by Tajik border troops in cooperation with other power-wielding structures of the country on the Tajik-Afghan border so far this year, according to the Tajik border service.
The border service source said that the first ten months of this year have seen 18 skirmishes between Tajik border guards and armed drug smugglers. 36 drug traffickers have been detained over the same ten-month period.
In January-October 2006, Tajik border troops destroyed more than 666,000 bushes of wild hemp and seized 55 firearms and more than 11,000 bullets of different caliber.
