, told Asia-Plus today.

“RusAl is ready to implement the Roghun project in accordance with optimal parameters contained in the feasibility study conducted for completing the construction of the Roghun power by Germany’s Lehmeyer International,” said Kasatkin, “

This feasibility study is based on the design for a hydropower plant with a 285-metre-high fill dam, capacity of 2,400 megawatt and annual generation of 10.3 billion kWh of electricity, without attraction from funds from the Russian and Tajik sides.”

“The feasibility study is also based on observance of international norms and agreements on trans-border use of water,” Kasatkin said, noting that the company intends to dispute its position.

However, according to him, RusAl does not have objection to the construction of a 335-meter-high fill dam if the Tajik government funds this work and comes to an agreement with states of the

Amudarya

’s basin about this project in respect of the issue of trans-border use of water.
