DUSHANBE, November 4, Asia-Plus – Rajab Mirzo, the head of the Democratic Party (DPT) organization for Dushanbe, which staged the picket, said that under Tajikistan’s legislation a picket may be held without coordination of its holding with the city authorities.

According to him very few people were aware of this action.  “We even informed journalists just 30 minutes before the picket started,” said Rajab Mirzo, “However, the plainclothes security agents appeared at the building of the Ministry of Justice before us.”  According to him, it could be evidence of the fact that telephones in the DPT office are eavesdropped by special services.

“The meeting was expected to last 30 minutes, but it lasted only several minutes,” Rajab Mirzo said.
