DUSHANBE, December 26, Asia-Plus – The developments taking place within the Democratic Party of Tajikistan (DPT) demonstrate that the party’s administration and its members do not have unity in their political views, local expert Afzali Saidjaffarov said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

“Judging by the fact that Democrats have expressed dissatisfaction with the last statement by their leader Masoud Sobirov about the possible unification with other wing of the party one may conclude that the unification will not take place.”

“However, with coming of a new leader the DPT will head for closing its ranks to make preparations for the next parliamentary elections that will be held in the country in 2010,” Saidjaffarov said.

As far as the acting chairman of the party is concerned, the expert said that Saidjaffar Isomonov is a young promising politician with good abilities of leader.  “However, his candidacy for the post of the DPT leader will be considered at an extraordinary congress of the party that will be held in Dushanbe on January 14,” Afzali Saidjaffarov said.
