DUSHANBE, December 26, Asia-Plus – The Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection (MoAEP) has provided humanitarian assistance to the Center for Elderly People in the Yovon district of Khatlon. 

Sherali Vazirov, the head of the MoAEP department for personnel policy and science, told Asia-Plus that 2,500 somonis’ worth of assistance, including wheat flour, meat, vegetable oil, and other basic food products, was handed over to the center on December 25.  According to him, this assistance was provided to the center sponsored by the ministry, on occasion of the upcoming – New Year and Idi Qurbon.   

“The center is house for 127 elderly people who do not have relatives to support,” said Vazirov, “Besides, 37 children, the survivors of the Chorbogh orphanage fire, are also currently living in this center.” 

Vazirov added that one of these days, the ministry also will provide a similar assistance to boarding school for deaf children in the Rudaki district, which is also sponsored by the MoAEP.  The ministry also will donate two computers to these centers in the near future, according to the MoAEP official.
